Fidget toys for adults on an office desk: 3D printed Infinity Cube, Karambit Spinner without a blade and Impossible Cone

Fidget Toys for Adults: Desk, Video Calls and Secret Santa

6 min read Updated By Kahaus · printed in Poland

In short

  • Fidget toys for adults give restless hands a job during calls and while thinking. That is all we promise, and it is usually enough.
  • For open-plan offices and video calls, pick the silent ones. Snaps, bearings and big gadgets belong on your own desk.
  • Our knife-shaped fidgets have no blade, but they look like knives. Keep them at the desk, not at school or the airport.

Fidget toys for adults are simply fidget toys with a different job. They sit next to the keyboard and get turned over during long calls, instead of a pen that clicks until someone notices.

We print ours in Poland, from PLA, and most come off the printer in one piece with nothing to assemble. Here is our own range sorted by situation: what works on camera, what stays at home, and what makes a decent Secret Santa gift.

Why adults fidget at all

Watch any meeting: pens click, knees bounce, sticky notes get folded into ever smaller squares. Most people keep their hands busy while they listen or think; a fidget toy is just an object made for that.

We keep the claims modest on purpose. A fidget toy gives your hands something to do, nothing more. Many people with ADHD say they like having something in their hands during meetings. That is their experience, not a promise from us: a toy is not a treatment and does not replace anything a doctor recommends.

Silent or clicky: choose by situation

Open-plan office and video calls

A headset microphone hears a click better than your neighbour does. For calls and shared rooms, pick toys that bend, fold or turn on a printed axle, with no metal and nothing loose inside: the Rose Spinner (8 cm) and Crystal Spinner (7 cm) turn silently without a bearing, the Flexi Grid (7.4 cm) makes no sound at all, and the Infinity Cube and Tornado Tower are quiet too.

Your own desk

The most satisfying mechanisms are usually the audible ones: a snap-action flip, a ball bearing, a big claw. Keep them for the home office or a colleague who does not mind.

Not every desk gadget is just a mechanism. The Star Wand Card Holder is a wand of about 30 cm and 80 g, printed to order, and its star has a recess for a contactless card or payment sticker: take out the wand and tap to pay. The rest of the time it is an EDC piece to twirl and wave in the hand, in two-tone silk PLA that shines a different colour on each side, with carved hearts and a five-pointed star. Five finishes (blue-green-purple, red-yellow-green, gold, white, sakura pink) in a kawaii, cosplay, magical-girl style: for people who like that look, not for every desk.

Which fidget toys for adults suit which place

Where it says "light plastic sound", do the ear test before an important call: use it fast for a minute, close to your ear.

The knife-shaped ones: not knives, but they look like it

The Karambit Spinner has the shape of a training knife, with no blade. The keychain version is blunt, and the Gravity Knife is a plastic flip toy. None of them cuts anything; they are for adults who like EDC-style spinning and flipping.

The problem is the look. From across a room nobody can tell a printed karambit from a real one, and people react to the shape. So, common sense: not to school, not in hand luggage, and not to concerts, stadiums or anywhere a knife shape could worry people. This is not legal advice, just what we do with ours.

These are not toys for children. Our fidgets have small moving parts and are not suitable for children under 3 years, and the knife-shaped ones do not belong in a school bag.

As a gift for colleagues: Secret Santa at work

A desk fidget works for Secret Santa even when you barely know the person you drew: small, not too personal, and it ends up where they spend the day. Our picks:

  • Lives on calls: the Infinity Cube, quiet and easy to hold under the desk.
  • Likes puzzles: the Impossible Cone set of 3 in rainbow silk PLA, the kind of thing people pick up just to work out how the spiral gets through.
  • Has a big desk: the Claw 2, 18.5 cm.
  • Fantasy or RPG fan: the Magic Gateway phone stand, a gothic portal archway for a smartphone.
  • Office joker: a mini trophy cup, 3.5 to 10 cm, as a desk award for whatever the team decides.

One rule: the knife-shaped fidgets are not a blind Secret Santa gift. Give them only to someone you know likes EDC gadgets. More ideas are under Desk Gadgets and Fidget Toys.

Care

PLA is a hard plastic: wipe it with a damp cloth, a drop of dish soap if needed. It does not like heat, so keep it off a sunny car dashboard and the radiator. If a print-in-place mechanism feels stiff, move it gently, never force it. Do not overtighten the Fidget Hexagon handle, and keep the keychain karambit's bearing dry.

Questions adults ask about fidget toys

Are fidget toys for adults only for people with ADHD?

No. Plenty of adults simply like having something in their hands. Many people with ADHD say the same, but a fidget toy is not a treatment.

Which one is quiet enough for video calls?

The Rose Spinner, Crystal Spinner and Flexi Grid are silent, the Infinity Cube and Tornado Tower are quiet. Skip the Gravity Knife and anything with a bearing.

Can I take the Karambit Spinner on a plane?

We would leave it at home. It has no blade, but it has the outline of a knife, and the person at security decides, not us.
