Bathroom Decor Ideas: Small Accessories That Keep Things Tidy

5 min read Updated By Kahaus · printed in Poland

In short

  • The best bathroom decor ideas are the useful ones: a holder for cotton pads, a cover for the tissue box, a tray that gathers perfume and creams.
  • Three rules: keep few things on the counter, pick one colour and one texture, and keep printed accessories out of splashing water and away from heat.
  • Our bathroom accessories are 3D printed from PLA in Poland. None of them is sold as waterproof, and we say so plainly below.

Most bathroom decor ideas start with buying something new to look at. We suggest the opposite: look at what already stands by the basin, then give each thing a proper place. A bag of cotton pads, a printed tissue box and five loose bottles make more visual noise than any bare wall.

Below: three rules for a calm bathroom, the small accessories we print that tidy up and still look like decoration, and an honest note on damp.

Three rules before you buy anything

1. Few things on the counter

Clear the counter, then put back only what you use every day. Each of those gets one container, so the counter reads as three objects, not twenty.

2. One colour, one texture

Accessories in one colour, with a similar ribbed surface, read as a set. Beige and white look soft against tiles, black and grey look graphic. Pick one and repeat it.

3. Respect the damp

Printed accessories belong on a shelf, a windowsill or the back of the counter, not on the wet rim of the basin, the edge of the bath or inside the shower.

Small accessories that tidy up and look like decor

Cotton pads: a holder you take from the bottom

The cotton pad holder is a narrow upright container, 6.8 × 6.9 × 10.3 cm. Pads are stacked inside, one on top of the other, and you pull them out at the bottom through a vertical slot in the wall. The stack stays enclosed and always sits in the same place, which is the whole point. Pads are not included.

Tissues: hide the printed box

Our tissue box cover is a 14.4 cm cube with a relief of circles on the walls. Its interior is made for a cube-shaped tissue box, and you pull tissues out through the opening at the top, just as from the box. A long, flat box will not fit. Tissues are not included.

Perfume and creams: one tray instead of a scatter

Bottles look tidy once they share one base. The oval fluted tray measures 19.7 × 12.3 × 1.6 cm and is made for exactly this: perfume and cosmetics in the bathroom. It comes in beige, white, black and grey. For rings and a watch you take off before washing, the Japandi catch-all bowl (17.6 cm across, 3.5 cm high) does the same job on a shelf.

A small plant

One plant softens the tiles. The Japandi plant pot has two parts: a ribbed insert with a drainage hole, where you plant directly, and a smooth cover pot without a hole that catches excess water, so no saucer is needed. The insert takes a plant repotted from a nursery pot of up to about 7 cm. Why the two-part pot works: see do plant pots need drainage holes.

Soft light without a flame

For an evening bath, the ribbed LED tealight holder (7.8 cm across, 3.5 cm high) spreads the glow of a battery LED tealight across its ribs. It is for LED tealights only, never a real flame, because PLA softens at high temperatures. The tealight is not included. Keep it on a shelf, not on the edge of the bath.

PLA in the bathroom: what we can and cannot promise

We print everything from PLA, a plant-based plastic made from corn starch. It is light and does not shatter like glass. But none of these accessories is sold as waterproof.

  • Water: the plant pot material does not absorb water, and we ask you to wipe away any excess after watering. The bowl is cleaned with a damp cloth. None of these pieces belongs in the shower or in standing water.
  • Heat: keep the pot, tray and bowl away from radiators and other heat sources. In a bathroom that means the heated towel rail, too. The tray and bowl are not dishwasher safe.
  • Flame: LED tealights only.

Questions about bathroom decor

Can I put these accessories next to the basin?

Yes, on a dry spot: the cotton pad holder is made for a shelf, beside the washbasin or on a dressing table. Keep them out of reach of splashes and do not leave them standing in water.

Will my tissue box fit the cover?

Only a cube-shaped box. The cover is 14.4 cm on each side and its interior is made for cube tissue boxes, not long flat ones.

Which colour works best in a small bathroom?

The one you can repeat. Beige and white blend with light tiles, black and grey stand out against them. All six accessories here come in those four.
