Dragon Gifts: Figurines, Eggs and XL Statues for Every Fan

In short

  • For a child from about six: a mid-size dragon figurine such as the 20 cm winged dragon. The XL statues are decoration, not toys.
  • For restless hands: the 80 cm flexi dragon, the 7 cm dragon egg fidget and the mini 8-pack, labelled 14+.
  • For siblings: the dragon duo. For collectors: the 16-piece mini set, labelled 14+. Everything has small parts and is not for children under 3.

Dragon gifts are easy to get right and surprisingly easy to get wrong. The dragon is rarely the problem; the size is. A 60 cm dragon statue is perfect for a fantasy fan with a free bookcase and far too much for a seven-year-old's desk.

We print all our dragons ourselves in Poland, from PLA. Here is the whole range the way we explain it when someone asks which one to buy: who it suits, how big it is, and whether it is for posing, display or fidgeting. Dragons in eggs get only a short mention, because they have a guide of their own.

Dragon gifts by person: who gets which one

A child of about six to ten

Choose something they can hold without you holding your breath. The 20 cm winged dragon figure is poseable and fits a bedroom shelf. The 3D dragon figure is a collectible statue in sizes from 10 to 33 cm. If the unwrapping matters as much as the dragon, look at Dragons in Egg.

A teenager

The articulated skeleton dragon, 33 cm, is printed in place and flexible, and looks more like a museum piece than a toy. The fidget dragon mini 8-pack is labelled 14+, so this is where it belongs.

A fantasy fan or collector

For someone who already has a shelf of books and figures, size is the gift. The large 3D dragon sculpture (60 cm) is poseable, and the winged dragon figure in its 50 cm XL version is a proper centrepiece. Collectors who prefer many over big tend to pick the 16-piece set of mini dragons.

The desk or office

On a desk a dragon should be small or fidgety. The 11 cm winged dragon figure stands next to a monitor, and the 7 cm dragon egg fidget has a twisty spiral to turn in the hand during a long call.

Home decor

If the dragon should become part of the room, choose from our XL decor range. The Chinese dragon XL is a 50 cm decorative sculpture, and the dragon duo, two 30 cm figures, works as a pair on a sideboard.

XL dragons are decoration, not toys

The 60 cm sculpture, the 50 cm winged dragon, the Chinese dragon XL and the dragon duo all sit in our XL Decor collection, and that is how we would give them. They are made to be looked at, and the poseable ones to be set in a pose once and then left alone. The 50 cm winged dragon and the Chinese dragon XL are labelled 14+ and are not for children; for a child's room, choose the 60 cm sculpture or the duo, as decoration, not as a floor toy.

Put it somewhere it will not be knocked over every day. Measure the space before ordering the 60 cm one. All the big ones are under Dragons XL.

Fidget dragons for restless hands

The large articulated dragon is 80 cm long and bends along its whole body. The mini 8-pack puts eight small articulated dragons on a desk, and the dragon egg fidget fits in a pocket or pencil case.

Honestly, the 80 cm dragon is more a desk companion than something for one hand; for fidgeting proper, the egg and the minis work better. More ideas without dragons are under Fidget Toys.

Sets for siblings and collectors

Two children and one dragon usually means an argument. The dragon duo gives you two figures in one order. The 16-piece set of mini dragons is labelled 14+, so it belongs on a collector's shelf or with a teenager, not on a children's party table.

For children who love surprises there are egg sets under Sets; the egg twists open and the dragon's colour stays a secret until then.

How to wrap and present a dragon

An articulated dragon looks best in a pose, so pose it before wrapping: head up, tail curled, wings open. A box with tissue paper keeps the pose better than paper pulled tight around the figure.

For an XL piece, skip the paper, tie a ribbon around it and put it where it will be seen first. With a set, wrap each mini separately so there is more to open. A dragon in an egg is its own wrapping.

Looking after your dragon

On a shelf, dust is the main enemy. A soft brush or a dry cloth gets between the scales and the joints, and that is all the cleaning it needs.

Move the joints one at a time and never force them. When a joint stops, it has reached its end, so bend it back rather than further. PLA softens with heat, so keep dragons away from radiators and cars parked in the sun.

Safety note: our dragons have small moving parts and are not suitable for children under 3. Items labelled 14+, such as the fidget dragon mini 8-pack, are meant for teenagers and adults.

Questions we get asked

Which dragon is the best gift for a child?

For a child from about six, the 20 cm winged dragon figure or the 3D dragon figure. The XL pieces are decoration, and the mini 8-pack is labelled 14+.

Are the XL dragons toys?

No. They belong to our XL decor range and are meant for a shelf, not the floor.

Do the articulated dragons need assembling?

No. They are printed in one piece with the joints already in place, so there is nothing to assemble or glue.
