Pumpkin Decorating Ideas Without Carving: Decor That Lasts

In short

Printed pumpkins do not rot: put them out in September, keep them until the end of November, then box them for next year.
Light comes from LED tealights only: the 9 cm lantern, the 16 cm tall pumpkin and the 4.6 cm holder are made for them. The other pumpkins are pure decoration.
They do not replace carving with the kids. Carve one real pumpkin for the evening and let the printed ones handle the rest of the season.

Most pumpkin decorating ideas start with a knife and a spoon. That makes a lovely evening, but a carved pumpkin does not last: once it is cut open, it goes soft and mouldy much sooner than a whole one. No-carve pumpkin ideas are for everything else: the windowsill, the table and the shelf that should look autumnal for weeks, not days.

Carved or printed: two different things

Let us be clear from the start: a printed pumpkin is not a substitute for carving with children. Scooping out the seeds, choosing a face and switching on the light in the evening is an activity, and the pumpkin is almost a side effect.

What printed pumpkins do well is the long part of the season. A real pumpkin on the table has to be checked and, sooner or later, thrown away. Ours stand where you put them from September to November and go back in a box when you are done with autumn. If you like both, do both: one carved pumpkin for Halloween night, printed ones for the weeks around it.

Which pumpkin for which place

All our pumpkins are ribbed, matte and printed in PLA; the fine layer lines are part of the process, not a flaw. They differ in shape, size and whether they hold a light.

Colours: the two sets come in beige, orange, white or black, always the whole set in one colour. The single pumpkins come in eleven colours, including olive, oak, chocolate, sakura, silk gold and silk silver.

Pumpkin decorating ideas that work

Windowsill

Build a line that steps up in height. The set of three already does it: 15, 6 and 4 cm. Add the tall pumpkin at the other end. A window is also seen from the street, so strong colours such as orange or black read better from outside than beige. If a radiator sits under the sill, check that the sill does not get hot.

Dining table

Keep it low so people can still see each other. The autumn set with tray is made for this: the lantern and the holder stand on the tray, the decorative pumpkin goes beside it.

Sideboard and shelf

Three heights, one colour: the tall pumpkin (16 cm), the butternut pumpkin M (11.5 cm) and a small ribbed pumpkin (5.7 cm). In beige or white this is a calm, Japandi-style look; in orange it is the classic autumn one.

Hallway, by the front door

A pumpkin by the entrance says autumn before anyone takes their coat off. Our pumpkins are indoor decorations, so put them on the inside: on a console, a shoe cabinet or a bench in the hall. A single lantern with an LED tealight makes a small welcome light for dark evenings.

Light: LED tealights only

The pumpkin lantern (9 cm), the tall pumpkin (16 cm) and the pumpkin tealight holder (4.6 cm) are made for LED tealights. The holder takes LED tealights up to 39.5 mm in diameter. LED tealights are not included.

Please never put a real candle inside. PLA is a plastic, and an open flame does not belong in it. A battery LED tealight gives a warm glow without the risk.

Through the season and on to next year

This is the real reason to choose printed pumpkins: they do not rot, so the same display can stand from the first cool week of September until the end of November. The sets are lightweight and will not shatter like ceramic or glass.

Cleaning: wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Not in the dishwasher.
Heat: PLA softens above about 55°C. Keep the pumpkins off radiators and out of a hot car.
Storage: pack them in a box and keep them somewhere cool until next September.

Can I put printed pumpkins outside by the front door?

We make them as indoor decoration, and PLA softens in strong heat. Put them on the inside instead: a windowsill facing the street or a hallway console, where they are seen and stay protected.
